Southwestern Texas Hill Country
Lodging and Accommodations       Located in the Southwest portion of the Edwards Plateau where the winters are typically dry and mild, the summers hot and humid.
      Biologists have identified 44 species of mammals and over 200 species of birds in our area. Bird watching is very popular. Evening bat flights are a few miles Northwest of Sabinal.
      Many ranches are open for hunting: whitetail deer, dove, turkey and wild hog.
      Recreational activity is year around. Leakey-Concan-Garner State Park area is famous for tubing the Frio River. Barksdale-Campwood area has Lake Nueces south of Campwood and the Nueces River for good boating, fishing and swimming. Vanderpool-Utopia-Lost Maples State Natural Area has the Sabinal River for swimming and fishing.
